About this care
BSO de Breek is located in the building of the Nieuwendam playground association at Monnikendammerplantsoen 12A in Amsterdam North. We provide after-school care for up to 26 children aged 4 to 12 years. Our location is open Monday to Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM. During school holidays, we are open from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Our space consists of one large hall divided into different areas. We have a wet area with a kitchen where we cook and bake together with the children. The large space is furnished with a home corner, construction corner, reading corner, and a crafts area. Children from various schools come together here. Most children see each other on fixed days in a consistent group setting.
We collaborate with Stichting de Spin to organize fun activities during holidays that both BSO children and neighborhood children can participate in. Our pedagogical staff offer a play activity daily, but children are also free to choose who and what they play with. We believe it's important that children feel safe and at home with us.Read more

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspected BSO de Breek in Amsterdam-Noord on 29 January 2026. The after-school care (BSO) for 22 children (ages 4-13) has struggled with staff instability for years. Parents filed a complaint about team changes, pedagogical quality, and collection safety. Two violations were identified: the mentorship policy was not being implemented as children had had no mentor since November 2025, and children were structurally cared for at another location on Fridays without this being included in policy. Both violations have been resolved following a recovery offer. A new permanent staff member started, mentorship has been restored, and children are again being cared for at their own location. The pedagogical practice showed strong points: children feel emotionally secure and staff are attentive and responsive. The GGD advises that no measures be imposed.
