About this care
BSO Matilo is located in the scouting building at Besjeslaan 2A in Leiden, right next to the Matilo nature park. We provide after-school care for children aged 8 to 12. Our special spot borders a large field and natural playground that we use every day for building dens, sports and games, creative workshops and adventurous outdoor activities. No two afternoons are the same: one day we might all be cooking together in our own kitchen, the next we head into the park for a scavenger hunt or exploration. Our qualified pedagogical staff take a coaching role, encouraging children to make their own choices and become increasingly independent. During school holidays we run a varied holiday programme with themed outings, workshops and fun excursions that we plan together with the children. Summary
BSO Matilo in Leiden, part of De Kinderhaven, was inspected on 12 June 2026 by GGD Hollands Midden (Municipal Health Service). The follow-up investigation followed an earlier violation found during the annual inspection of 16 April 2026. At that time, it emerged that an employee was not registered in the childcare personnel register (personenregister kinderopvang) and did not have a linked Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). This shortcoming has since been resolved: the employee received a valid VOG on 30 April 2026 and was linked as of 1 May 2026. The license holder has drawn up an action plan with additional checks to prevent recurrence. The location now meets all assessed quality requirements.
