Welcome to Preschool 't Kabouterhuis located at Amsteldijk 196 in Amsterdam South. We are a preschool specifically for toddlers who feel most comfortable between regular and special education. In small groups, with familiar faces and a low-stimulus environment, we build self-confidence, social skills, and a safe foundation for the future together.
At 't Kabouterhuis, everything happens at your child's pace – and even more playfully than at other preschools. With gentle transitions, clear routines, and activities that match what your child needs, we ensure trust and enjoyment in learning. Our pedagogical staff are specially trained to guide children in this way: with attention, calmness, and an eye for what each child needs.

Settling in
First time at a daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV)? That's quite an adjustment for your child. And for you! That's why we let your child get used to the group at a gentle pace. The first time, you stay with your child at the daycare center. After that, we evaluate together how things are going, so your child gradually learns to stay in the group on their own and becomes familiar with our location, the other children, and our childcare staff. How does the settling-in period work? 1. Step by step: you stay with your child at first and slowly phase this out. 2. Tailored to your child: the settling-in period is different for everyone and we coordinate this with you. 3. Safe and secure: your child is given the time to feel comfortable in the group. Give your child a hug and he/she will happily continue playing!
