At Je Beste Maatje, parents find flexible childminder (gastouder) care for children aged 0 to 12 years in a homely environment. Childminders care for a maximum of 6 children, ensuring small-scale provision and personal attention. The bureau mediates between parents and childminders and offers support with all practical matters, including applications for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag). Parents have a fixed point of contact in their childminder and can count on professional guidance from the bureau. Care is available in various forms: day care, before-school care, between-school care or after-school care (BSO), tailored to personal wishes.

Je Beste Maatje operates nationally through a franchise formula with regional branches. Each region has its own regional manager who handles mediation and guidance in that area. Parents are paired with the regional manager in their residential region for personal service and local expertise. The bureau has active branches in various regions throughout the Netherlands.

Je Beste Maatje is a childminder bureau (gastouderbureau) recognised and registered by the municipality in the National Childcare Register (LRKP). The bureau meets all legal requirements of the Childcare Act and is inspected annually by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) for safety and health. In addition, the bureau carries out its own inspections at childminders' homes twice a year, with attention to safety, guidance and care. The bureau sets stricter requirements for childminders than legally required, including Certificates of Conduct for all adult family members and continuous screening through the PRK. The bureau is affiliated with the Disputes Committee for complaint handling.
