Tweede Thuis offers personal mediation for childminder (gastouder) care in the north of the Netherlands. As mothers ourselves, we understand how important it is to find a pleasant, reliable childcare place for your child. We believe in the flexibility and small-scale nature of childminder care, where your child receives extra attention and personal care in a homely atmosphere.
We work with a zero-hours contract, which means you only pay for the childcare hours you have agreed with your childminder. Our childminders are all registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang) and meet all legal requirements for quality and safety.
Subsidy & costs
Tweede Thuis is a recognised childminder agency, which means that parents may be eligible for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) if they and their partner work or meet other legal conditions. The agency offers guidance in applying for this benefit where necessary. Parents can do a trial calculation on the website of the Belastingdienst (Dutch Tax and Customs Administration) to gain insight into the costs and conditions.
The advisory rate (babysitting fee) for childminders is €7.59 per child per hour. Childminders may determine their own rate. On top of the care fee comes the mediation fee of Tweede Thuis: €0.90 per child per care hour. The total hourly rate therefore consists of the childminder's fee plus the mediation fee.
Different rates apply for in-home care. In 2026, childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) will be provided up to a maximum hourly rate of €8.49 per care hour. Parents can do a trial calculation on the website of the Belastingdienst.
Trust & screening
All childminders at Tweede Thuis are registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang/LRK) and have the required diplomas, certificates and declarations. Parents can view the inspection reports of affiliated childminders via the LRK. The agency continuously guides and monitors the quality of childminder care and arranges further training for childminders.
Tweede Thuis works in accordance with the Childcare Act and strives for quality in the childminder care provided. The agency is affiliated with the Childcare and Preschool Disputes Committee (De Geschillencommissie Kinderopvang en Peuterspeelzalen) and the Childcare Complaints Office (Klachtenloket Kinderopvang).
