About this care
Welcome to KDV ’t Kiekgat, our daycare centre at Veenweg 22 in Vries. We are part of Stichting SKID Kinderopvang and provide loving care for up to 70 children aged 0 to 4 years in a modern, single-storey building with four group rooms, a central hall and an atelier.
Our location is situated on the quiet grounds of Visio De Brink, where hardly any cars drive. We are allowed to use Visio's facilities, such as the children's farm De Kiep, the playground and the shell path. Right next to the building is our large, enclosed garden which we have designed as an activity and discovery garden. Here children can cycle, crawl, slide and run to their heart's content while playfully discovering nature.
We work with vertical groups: Nijntje, Dribbel, Olli and Bobbi (toddler group). Our pedagogical staff members are well attuned to each other and form a close-knit team. For parents with irregular working hours, we offer flexible childcare. In addition, we provide pre-school education (VE) to optimally prepare children for primary school.
Besides the daycare centre, there is also a toddler playgroup active at our location. For our KDV, the Parent Committee Vries is active, with whom we work closely.

Strengths
- Premises meet all requirements: sufficient indoor and outdoor space, safe and appropriate layout
- Pedagogical policy staff member for early childhood education is sufficiently deployed
- Certificate of conduct (VOG) and staff register are in order
- Staff-to-child ratio is generally adhered to
- Training plan for early childhood education is in place and evaluated
Shortcomings
- The pedagogical work plan 'Kindcentrum in Beeld' must contain a concrete description of group size, age composition and staff deployment for the staff-to-child ratio
- Early childhood education must be provided by a sufficient number of certified staff members (VE certificate and 3F language test)
- Stability of care for children must be improved, particularly in the 3+ toddler group Stip
Violations
- Pedagogical work plan is non-compliant: missing description of maximum group size, age composition and how the staff-to-child ratio is met (Article 1.50(2) Childcare Act)
- Early childhood education is not being implemented in accordance with requirements: staff without VE certificate and/or 3F language test are present in the group; 1:8 ratio is not being achieved (Article 1.50b Childcare Act)
- Stability of care: a child aged 1 year or older in the early childhood education toddler group Stip sees six different staff members over four mornings, whereas a maximum of three permanent staff members is permitted (Articles 1.50(1) and (2) and 1.60c(2) Childcare Act)
Summary
The annual inspection of childcare center 't Kiekgat in Vries (SKID Kinderopvang) on 29 January 2026 presents a mixed picture. The premises meet all requirements, as does the deployment of the pedagogical policy staff member for early childhood education and most personnel matters. However, serious shortcomings were identified in the areas of pedagogical policy, early childhood education, and stability of care. The holder has decided to no longer offer formal early childhood education and to have the early childhood education registration removed. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises enforcement action.
