Summary

The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report dated 4 August 2026 concerns Summerkids, an after-school care (BSO) facility operated by Kom Kids Kinderopvang B.V. on the sports grounds of Excelsior'20 in Schiedam. It is a summer holiday programme for 215 children from Schiedam, Vlaardingen and Maassluis. Almost all quality requirements were found to be in order, including registration, administration, pedagogical policy and practice, staffing, safety and health, and parental rights. The pedagogical practice is assessed positively: there is a cheerful atmosphere, children are guided sensitively, and there is clear structure. One violation was identified: the indoor play area (179 m²) does not meet the requirement of 3.5 m² per child at high occupancy (146-297 children). There are mitigating circumstances: the programme is largely organised outdoors, the dining hall is used on a rotating basis, and in poor weather conditions children can be relocated to regular locations. The municipality based registration on site capacity, not indoor space. No recovery offer was made.
