About this care
De Mus ('sparrow') is a small scale kindergarten ('peuterspeelzaal') similar to a preschool, located in Amsterdam Oost in the Van Musschenbroekstraat, close to Weesperplein and Oosterpark. We have space for up to 10 children aged 2-4 years who enroll two to five mornings a week. Our qualified professionals and volunteers offer loving care for the children. We have a nice indoor space and a large sheltered playground with lots of greenery, a sandbox, swings, a slide and many types of go-karts, scooters and bicycles. De Mus is managed by a non-profit foundation led by parents themselves, aided by an active constituency of volunteers. Parents take an active role in running the institution, making De Mus a warm, close-knitted community.Read more

Summary
Stichting De Mus is a small-scale parent-run daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) in Amsterdam with a maximum of 14 toddler places. During the unannounced annual inspection on 28 May 2026, a warm and relaxed atmosphere was observed in which children were familiar with routines and regular staff members. No violations were identified. The pedagogical climate is good: staff respond sensitively and responsively, encourage independence and social skills, and provide emotional security. The safety and health policy is implemented adequately, including measures for hot weather. One point of attention is that the settling-in protocol still needs to be formally included in the pedagogical policy; this has been discussed with the board and will be amended. The accommodation meets requirements with suitable indoor and outdoor spaces.
