About this care
Kindcentrum Step by Step is a professional private daycare center located at Van Karnebeekpad 5 in Zwijndrecht. We provide responsible childcare in a safe, secure and familiar environment where children aged 0 to 4 can develop in their own way and at their own pace. We believe it is important that all children feel welcome at our daycare center, regardless of their diverse backgrounds in the broadest sense of the word.
Our location has a capacity of up to 20 children and is open Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 18:00. We work with skilled professionals who work with children with passion and intrinsic motivation. By playfully challenging children, they are stimulated to expand their personal competencies in various developmental areas. We see children as the most precious possession a person can have in life and strive to create an environment in which they can develop optimally.
At Kindcentrum Step by Step, the development of each child is central. We offer a pedagogically responsible approach where children are given space to learn and grow through play and interaction. Our professionals guide children in their interactions, where social knowledge and social skills are taught playfully. All this takes place in a safe and familiar environment where children feel secure.

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection report of 3 September 2026 concerns a further investigation into daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Step by Step in Zwijndrecht. This investigation assessed whether the location met 10 conditions that were not achieved during the annual inspection on 3 March 2026. The provider now complies with all of these assessed conditions. The daycare center accommodates 23 children, divided across a baby group (0-2 years) and toddler group (2-4 years), and provides subsidised early childhood education. Previous inspections revealed various shortcomings, including issues with staff registration, safety policy, and knowledge of the reporting code. In this further investigation, all staff are correctly registered, the pedagogical coach meets the qualification requirements, staff-child ratios are in order, and staff work in accordance with the health and safety policy. The duty to consult and report in cases of suspected abuse is now also sufficiently understood.
