Summary

Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Stadskasteel (Kiekeboe Kinderopvang B.V.) in Utrecht was inspected unannounced on 3 June 2025. The annual investigation showed that the location did not meet all statutory quality requirements: the pedagogical policy was not up to date (staff schedules did not match the plan) and the described maximum number of children (46) exceeded the registered capacity of 44. There was also insufficient indoor play space per child in group Spoorzoekers. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) offered the operator a two-week recovery period; the operator duly submitted an updated pedagogical work plan, reduced the group size of Spoorzoekers to 13 children, and filed an amendment request to adjust the LRK to 45 childcare places. As a result, all shortcomings have been remedied and the location now once again meets the quality requirements. The municipality is advised not to take enforcement action.
