About this care
At JongLeren in The Hague, we offer a safe and stimulating environment for toddlers aged 2.5 to 4 years. Our locations are spread throughout the city, so there is always a nearby place where children can learn through play and develop at their own pace. We believe that children learn best by discovering and experiencing things for themselves. That is why play is at the heart of our toddler learning groups.
Our professional and caring guidance helps toddlers develop their own identity. We encourage their development through play and ensure they are well prepared for a smooth start at primary school. Parents are an important part of our process, and we provide a trusted and welcoming environment where toddlers feel safe and at home.
In addition to toddler care, we also offer childcare for children aged 4 to 13 at various primary schools. Here, the focus is on discovering, developing, and relaxing. We are proud of our free preschool toddler learning groups, available for children with a referral from the Centre for Youth and Family (Centrum Jeugd en Gezin). Please feel free to contact us for more information or to find a location near you.Read more
GGD Inspection
Violations
Inspection date: March 30, 2026
Strengths
- All staff members hold appropriate professional qualifications and meet the IKK language requirement
- All staff members are correctly registered in the persons register and linked to the license holder
- Indoor spaces are sufficiently large for the number of requested childcare places (48.3 m² and 48.2 m²)
- Change was reported to the municipality in a timely manner
Shortcomings
- Second base group room must still be appropriately furnished for children aged 2.5 to 4 years before being put into use
Violations
- The location does not have a fixed, permanently available outdoor play space; the outdoor play space is shared with the primary school and is only available according to a schedule (10:50-11:50 a.m.), while the law requires a minimum of 3 m² of fixed outdoor play space per child
Summary
Peuterleerplek Speleon in 's-Gravenhage, part of Stichting Jongleren, has undergone an incidental inspection for expansion from 14 to 26 childcare places. The location provides subsidized early childhood education to children aged 2.5 to 4 years. Regarding staffing and indoor space, the location meets all requirements. However, a violation has been identified: there is no fixed, permanently available outdoor play space. The toddlers use the primary school playground according to a schedule (10:50-11:50 a.m.). The municipality has issued a tolerance decision (gedoogbeschikking) for this arrangement. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises approving the expansion and not enforcing this point, provided that the practice corresponds to the tolerance decision.
