SKSG BSO Poolster

Welcome to SKSG BSO Poolster, located inside OBS De Starter at Parkweg 128 in Groningen’s Grunobuurt district. Our out-of-school care centre welcomes up to 68 children aged 4–12. We collect children from De Starter, De Triangel and De Tamarisk schools on foot, by bike or with our BSO minibus. BSO Poolster is organised into three base groups: Super Nova (4–12 yrs, max. 22 children), Pluto (4–12 yrs, max. 22 children) and Aurore (7+ yrs, max. 24 children). Each group has its own qualified staff who create a familiar, safe atmosphere. We plan activities that match each age phase so every child’s developmental needs are met. Our philosophy is that children learn through play and discovery. Every day we offer a varied programme built around five pillars: sport & movement, cooking & nutrition, nature & sustainability, science & technology, and art & culture. We use several classrooms, a gym and a large outdoor area. Together with Stadspark community centre we also access a science lab for woodworking and experiments. After school the children meet in their base group for a drink and a healthy snack. They are then free to choose which activities they join. During holidays and study days we combine locations; children from BSO Ster and BSO Stadspark join us at Poolster while we still organise age-specific trips to the other sites. Our dedicated pedagogical staff focus on helping every child feel at home, have fun and develop their talents. We work closely with parents to create a continuous learning line where every child can simply be themselves.
