Summary

BSO Right at Home in Almere provides small-scale after-school care (BSO) for a maximum of 11 children in a single base group. The inspection of 16 October 2025 found that the pedagogical practice is generally adequate: children experience emotional safety, there is attention to cooperative play, and the staff member adapts her communication to the children's age. The accommodation is suitably furnished and the staff-to-child ratio is in order. However, three violations have been established. In the area of safety and health, insufficient adherence to policy was found: annual evacuation drills are missing, no staff members are trained in emergency response (BHV), water beads (Orbeez) were used unsafely, and the acoustics have been inadequate for years. The operator is insufficiently familiar with her statutory duty to consult and report suspected child abuse by employees. Parental participation is lacking: parents are not informed about the most recent inspection report, there is no parent committee, and there is insufficient evidence that parents are involved in policy matters. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality to enforce.
