Strengths

Shortcomings

• Pedagogical policy plan contained insufficient concrete description of staffing arrangements for BKR, frameworks for the 3-hour rule and handover to school/BSO
• Safety and health policy was insufficiently transparent for parents and staff
• Four-eyes principle was insufficiently concretely described when deploying one practitioner
• Complaints procedure did not contain all required components and was potentially too complicated for parents

Violations

• BBL student was deployed alone at the childcare center without a qualified practitioner, resulting in non-compliance with the practitioner-child ratio and the 50% rule
• BBL student supervision plan did not meet conditions (insufficient evidence of consent from 3 parties)
• Not always an adult with a valid first aid certificate present throughout all opening hours
• Food temperature was not measured due to missing thermometer; hands were not washed in the correct place after nappy changes
• Sleeping children were not checked every 15 minutes in accordance with protocol
• No safe, accessible and appropriately designed outdoor space available for all children throughout all care hours

Summary

The annual inspection by GGD Flevoland on 22 January 2026 shows that daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) RIANT Marco Poloroute in Almere does not meet all statutory requirements. The pedagogical practice is assessed as adequate: the atmosphere is relaxed and staff interact with children respectfully and in a stimulating manner. However, multiple shortcomings were identified in the areas of staffing and groups, safety and health, accommodation, pedagogical policy and parental rights. The provider took immediate action upon discovery and has since remedied all shortcomings, as evidenced in the response submitted.
