About this care
Peuterspeelzaal Theresia has been a trusted place in the Bloemhof district for over 35 years, located in the same building as Theresia primary school at Strevelsweg 155 in Rotterdam. We provide care for children from 2 to 4 years old in a safe and rich play-and-learn environment. Our team consists of three qualified and experienced pedagogical staff members who are ready every morning to guide your child in their development.
With us, children learn the structure of a day through play and discover the world using challenging materials. We work thematically and align our activities with groups 1/2 of Theresia primary school, ensuring a smooth transition to elementary school. Our play areas are equipped with imagination-stimulating toys, creative materials, and games that connect with the world of toddlers.
We have a beautiful green playground where children get acquainted with nature. Outdoor play is a fixed part of our day. We have an enclosed outdoor space with a playhouse with slide and a large sandbox with benches. We regularly eat and drink outside and also use the field opposite our building. Our outdoor area is carefully designed with attention to different ages and safety.
For parents, it's good to know that we don't have a waiting list. Your child can start immediately when there is availability. Transitioning to Theresia primary school is possible, but certainly not mandatory. You decide which primary school your child attends. Strengths
- The pedagogical policy is well implemented in practice with clear group routines
- Early childhood education using the Uk & Puk method is offered with good quality
- Good parental involvement in early childhood education
- The pedagogical policy staff member is deployed sufficiently

- Make clear which staff members are qualified for first aid and at which times they are available
- Ensure that first aid providers are physically and immediately available on location, not only by telephone
Violations
- On 25-03-2026, 26-03-2026, 01-04-2026 and 02-04-2026, no staff member was present who was qualified to provide first aid to children, while this is legally required (Art. 1.49(1) and 1.50(1) and (2) of the Childcare Act)
- In the kitchen, a child safety lock was missing on a drawer containing sharp knives (remedied during inspection by installing a gate and child safety lock)
Summary
Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Theresia in Rotterdam was inspected on 8 April 2026. The toddler group with 16 places for children aged 2-4 meets most quality requirements, including pedagogical policy, early childhood education and qualification requirements. A violation was identified in the area of safety and health policy: on four days in March 2026, no qualified first aid provider was directly present on location. The provider has received a recovery offer and has taken immediate measures, including installing a gate and a child safety lock on a kitchen drawer. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of Rotterdam to enforce. The provider disagrees with the violation and maintains that sufficient qualified persons were nearby.
