About this care
Welcome to Poppedijn Kantens, a warm and small-scale daycare centre located at Pastorieweg 6 in the heart of Kantens. We are part of Stichting Goud Kinderopvang and have provided trusted childcare for up to eight children aged 0 to 4 since 2012. Our home-like setting is organised into horizontal age groups, ensuring babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers each receive the calm and stimulation suited to their developmental stage.
Our qualified pedagogical staff are trained in caring for children from birth. The youngest ones have their own baby corner and a quiet sleeping area where they can rest safely. Toddlers are challenged with engaging pre-school lessons that follow the Early Childhood Education (VVE) programme. Through play they practise language, numeracy and social skills, preparing them well for primary school.
We believe children thrive in a familiar environment. That is why we work with consistent caregivers and maintain close communication with parents. Our aim is to offer one childcare solution: children can stay with us from babyhood right through to pre-school age without parents needing to switch settings. We are open Monday to Thursday from 07:00 to 18:00 and employ only qualified pedagogical staff who provide a safe, loving and stimulating day for your child every day.Read more

Summary
The annual inspection on 13 November 2025 at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Poppedijn Kantens shows that the location meets all legal quality requirements. The childcare accommodates up to 16 children (ages 0-4) in the morning and a combined group with after-school care (BSO) in the afternoon. Early childhood education is provided using the 'Piramide' method. During the observation, positive examples were seen of sensitive responsiveness and appropriate offering for the children. However, one area of concern was identified: coordination between the permanent staff member and the substitute/student was insufficient, leaving the staff member alone with eight children. The holder responded with additional coaching. The location has operated as a combined group for years but is not yet officially registered as such in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang); the holder indicates that in 2026 they will transition to two separate groups for KDV and BSO.
