About this care
Peuteropvang de Taaltuin is located in the same sustainable building as public primary school De Taaltuin at Thorbeckesingel 4 in Schiedam. We are a playgroup focused on children aged 2.5 to 4 years and operate from a clear language-oriented vision. Our goal is to stimulate oral language skills and Dutch comprehension in a safe and challenging environment.
The toddler group is open five half-days per week: a morning group from 8:15 to 11:30 and an afternoon group from 12:00 to 15:15. Children attend two fixed half-days per week, and we work with horizontal age groups. We provide pre-school education (VVE), paying extra attention to language development and the world around us. By letting children come into contact with nature and everything that lives in it at an early age, they develop a greater awareness of all that is alive.
Our Activity Team organizes activities that stimulate both the motor skills and creativity of each child. We use challenging and sustainable play materials so that a child can develop as optimally as possible. Playing is learning, especially for young children. We work closely with childcare organization Mundo, which operates daycare Puur in the same building for children aged 0-4. Children from our toddler care have priority when enrolling at De Taaltuin primary school.Read more

Summary
Peuteropvang de Taaltuin in Schiedam provides half-day care for 16 children aged 2.5–4 years in two groups. The inspection of 22 September 2025 assessed all examined quality requirements as 'in order'. The pedagogical climate is positive: children experience emotional security, receive appropriate challenges in language, motor skills and social skills, and learn group rules. The use of the Startblokken programme for pre-school education is proceeding according to plan; parents are involved through open-door sessions, theme newsletters and the digital system KIJK!. All staff hold the correct diplomas, certificates and Certificate of Conduct (VOG); the previously identified violation (intern not linked in the Personenregister) has been resolved through adjusted internal processes. Information provision to parents, complaints procedure and affiliation with the Geschillencommissie are all in order. The municipality is advised not to take enforcement action.
