Welcome to De Tovertuin, a natural childcare facility where we offer a small-scale, homely environment for children aged 0 to 12. Our philosophy is built on warmth, attention to each child's unique individuality, and a strong focus on healthy nutrition and nature. We believe that children learn and develop best in a safe and familiar environment, surrounded by natural materials that inspire them to play, learn and discover.
At De Tovertuin, we offer a wide range of activities. Children can play outdoors and explore nature, eat together at the table, bake in the kitchen, picnic and romp around in the nearby nature reserve 'De Bergen'. Our permanent staff members are familiar faces who provide a warm and safe place where children can develop and have fun.

Summary
Toddler group De Biezentuin in Dongen, part of VOF De Tovertuin, provides care for 16 toddlers (ages 2–4). The annual inspection on 12 February 2026 showed a largely positive picture: the pedagogical climate fully meets requirements, with warm, responsive staff who connect well with the children. However, there were two violations. Under 'staff and groups,' the staff-to-child ratio was incorrect: between 8:30 and 8:50 a.m., only one staff member was present for 11 children, and the roster did not match practice. Under 'safety and health,' only one staff member was structurally working with five children on Wednesday mornings, meaning the four-eyes principle (vier-ogenprincipe) could not be observed. Both violations were resolved through a recovery offer (herstelaanbod): the roster has been adjusted and an additional staff member has been scheduled. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises no enforcement action.
