About this care
BSO Blijhaven is located on the banks of the IJ river, in a beautiful new building that also houses the Blijhaven primary school. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. Our pedagogical staff help your child discover their talents and encourage them to explore at their own pace.
We tailor our activities to the age and interests of the children. Want to roll up your sleeves for cooking or woodworking? Or would you rather play sports and romp around outside? When you're feeling creative, you can express yourself through music, games, or your own ideas. Prefer to do nothing for a while? That's fine too! You don't have to do anything, you can do a lot.
Our location is open four days a week from 2:15 PM to 6:30 PM and during school holidays from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. We are open 40 weeks per year. The BSO is located in the same building as the primary school, providing a familiar and safe environment for all children.Read more

Summary
BSO Blijhaven, an after-school care (BSO) in Amsterdam-Noord for up to 22 children aged 4-12, was inspected unannounced on 29 September 2025. The pedagogical practice appears positive: children are given ample space to choose and play independently, agreements are clear, and staff encourage self-reliance. All staff members hold valid diplomas and a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag/VOG); at the time of the visit, staffing levels were adequate. The premises are safe and well-equipped, both indoors and outdoors. However, four violations were identified: three in the pedagogical policy plan (missing age structure, complete work schedule and description of the base group) and one in the area of food safety (no refrigerator thermometer and missing temperature guidelines). A recovery offer was made for all violations with a deadline of 31 October 2025, but the location has not submitted any documents; the violations have therefore not yet been terminated. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of Amsterdam to enforce.
