Based on this, we actively search for a childminder who truly fits your family. You can choose care at the childminder's home or at your own home (childminder at home). Our goal is a warm, safe, and trusted childcare place where your child feels at ease — almost like a second home.
Subsidy & costs
Parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) when both parents work, study, or follow an integration course. The benefit covers approximately 60% to 96% of costs, depending on your assessed income. Krokodilletje supports you in applying for the benefit through the Tax Administration and ensures that agency costs are included in the calculation. From 2026, the maximum reimbursement for childminder care will be €8.49 per child per hour. We offer a handy benefit calculator on our website to calculate your personal contribution.
The costs for childminder care at Krokodilletje consist of the childminder's hourly rate and agency fees. The recommended rate for childminder care at the childminder's home is €6.50 per child per hour (indicative; some childminders charge a higher or lower rate). The agency fees cover our services such as placement, guidance, hour registration, invoicing, and support with childcare benefit. Unlike many other agencies, Krokodilletje does not have penalty clauses and does not lock you into one-year contracts. You only pay for your child's actual childcare hours.
Trust & screening
Our screening process for childminders is thorough and comprises multiple steps. All potential childminders must meet legal requirements including a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) for themselves and all adult household members, a valid first aid certificate, and the required training qualifications. In addition, we conduct personal intake interviews, assess the childcare location for safety and hygiene, and check references. After placement, we continue to support childminders with regular evaluation meetings and risk assessments.
Krokodilletje meets all legal requirements for childminder agencies and is registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK). We only work with childminders who meet strict selection criteria, including a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and a valid first aid certificate. We are inspected multiple times per year by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) on our working methods and procedures. All inspection reports and annual complaint reports are transparently available via our website.
