Summary

The annual investigation by GGD Drenthe into Plateau kinderdagverblijf/KDV Het Sterrenschip in Assen shows that the childcare center meets statutory requirements in three of the four investigated domains. In the domain of pedagogical climate: early childhood education, a violation was identified. A staff member at the toddler daycare did not hold a valid early childhood education (VE) certificate and was scheduled alone in the group, whereas this is only permitted alongside a certified colleague. As a result, the required ratio of one VE staff member per eight children was also not met. The provider stated that this was done to prevent group closure. The other investigated areas – staff and groups, safety and health, and parental rights – do meet the requirements. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality of Assen to enforce in accordance with the enforcement policy.
