About this care
Welcome to Klein Alkmaar Houtweg, our daycare centre in the Nassaukwartier on the edge of the Westerhout woods. At Houtweg 29 we provide day care for up to 64 children aged 0 to 4 years. The location has recently been expanded and is so green that many children think we are right in the middle of a forest.
The large, green outdoor area – surrounded by the trees of the Westerhout – is the beating heart of our centre. Here children can run, climb, explore and burn off energy to their heart’s content. For the very youngest we have a separate, sheltered outdoor space with a sun-shade sail, so that they too can play safely and become completely absorbed in their own world.
Inside we work in warm, homely groups where every child is given the space to develop at his or her own pace. Our pedagogical staff are ready with attention, respect and trust. We believe it is important that children feel safe and come to the centre with pleasure. Every day we see children going home with a smile on their face, and that makes our work worthwhile.

Summary
The annual unannounced inspection by GGD Hollands Noorden at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Klein Alkmaar Houtweg in Alkmaar took place on 26 May 2026. The location provides care for 64 children (ages 0–4) in 5 base groups. Initially, one violation was identified: the exterior door at the entrance was left ajar, allowing children to exit and unauthorized persons to enter. This was a temporary arrangement because not everyone could reach the code lock. Following a recovery offer, the situation was resolved: the door now remains closed and can only be opened using the code lock or by a staff member. The pedagogical work plan has been updated. All other assessed requirements regarding pedagogical climate, staff and groups, and accommodation were found to be satisfactory from the outset.
