Subsidy & costs
Many parents are eligible for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag). Depending on your income, you will receive part of the care costs back via the Tax and Customs Administration. This happens monthly, prior to each month. The hourly rate of €8.68 (2026) per child is a gross rate on which your benefit is calculated. At Kinderopvang Thuis, we use a fixed hourly rate for clarity. The rate for 2026 is €8.68 per hour per child. The childminder receives €7.08 per hour (recommended rate, the childminder may deviate from this) and €1.60 is allocated to the childminder agency. You pay no registration fees or separate mediation or administration costs. As a parent, you only pay for the agreed care hours that you enter monthly in the childminder portal. Together with the childminder, you can also make mutual arrangements about additional costs such as lunch, a hot meal or nappies.
Trust & screening
Our screening process for childminders is thorough and meets legal requirements. New childminders must have at least a level 2 MBO qualification, hold a paediatric first aid certificate, and have a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Housemates and regular visitors over 18 must also have a VOG. Childminders are registered in the Childcare Personnel Register for continuous screening. The home is checked for safety, hygiene and suitability. After approval by the GGD and registration in the National Childcare Register, the childminder can start. Childminders follow 7 hours of training annually and receive 3 hours of pedagogical coaching.
Kinderopvang Thuis is a recognised childminder agency (gastouderbureau) that falls under Xpect013. All childminders are qualified and meet strict requirements: they have a relevant diploma, paediatric first aid, a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and are registered in the Childcare Personnel Register. The childminder's home must meet safety and hygiene requirements. We carry out periodic inspections at childminders and the childminder agency itself is also monitored by the GGD (Municipal Health Service). Parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) when their child is placed with a qualified childminder.

We focus on emotional security, development of personal competence, development of social competence, and the transfer of norms and values. Childminders (gastouders) offer children a place where they feel at home, with calm, regularity and personal attention. The small-scale nature of the care makes it possible to build a close bond, so that children feel seen and secure. We encourage development by challenging children and letting them learn through play.
