Welcome to Kinderopvang Lotus, located in the characteristic Statenschool building in the heart of historic Dordrecht. Since September 2014, we have been providing childcare with passion and dedication to children aged 0 to 4 years in a warm, homely environment where your child feels safe and secure.
Our location at Hofstraat 5 has eleven childcare places, allowing us to work on a small scale and give each child the personal attention they deserve. Jet, Justa, Vanessa and Elke form the permanent team that is ready every day to give your child an unforgettable day. Due to our limited size, we know each child and every parent personally, creating a familiar atmosphere with short lines of communication.
We have made our home in a beautiful old school building that has been completely transformed into a child-friendly space. The high windows provide plenty of natural light, while the original details of the building give it a unique, homely character. The location is easily accessible and within walking distance of shops and public transport.
At Kinderopvang Lotus, we believe that children develop best in a calm, familiar environment with familiar faces. We therefore work with a permanent team of pedagogical staff who recognize your child from day one. Our approach is aimed at stimulating your child's development through play, discovery and learning from each other. We offer a daily vegetarian warm lunch made with organic products.

Summary
Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Lotus in Dordrecht, part of the Opvang Nieuwe Stijl franchise, was inspected on 28 April 2026. The three owners work as the only staff members in one core group for a maximum of 10 children (ages 0-4). The pedagogical quality is in order: the staff respond warmly and supportively, and work according to the pedagogical policy. However, three violations were identified for which a recovery offer was made. These concerned the safety and health policy (unsafe sleeping in stroller with risk of overheating), staff deployment (no second adult present during breaks when deviating from ratio), and the duty to report, consult, and file a complaint (owners unaware of their duty to consult when suspecting sexual abuse). All violations were resolved in May/June 2026. The advice to the municipality is: no enforcement.
