About this care

AI
At Kinderopvang Het Pareltje in Amsterdam Nieuw West, we offer a warm and safe environment for children from 0 to 12 years old. Our childcare is focused on creating a homely atmosphere where children can develop and have fun. We have different groups: 'De Guppies' for babies from 0 to 2 years, 'De Dolfijntjes' for toddlers from 2 to 4 years, and 'De Kapiteintjes' for children from 4 to 12 years. Our experienced and qualified staff ensure that every child receives the attention they need. We follow each child's rhythm and encourage them to discover and learn through play. We offer daily activities such as arts and crafts, music and dance, and outdoor play. Additionally, we provide healthy, warm meals that are prepared on-site. We are proud of our commitment to every child's development and also offer after-school care (BSO), where we pick up children from local schools. With us, children can do their homework and take part in various fun activities. We welcome parents to come and take a look and learn more about our childcare.

GGD Inspection

Violations

Inspection date: January 30, 2026

Strengths

Violations
The location generally provides responsible daycare with a stable team and a positive pedagogical climate. Multiple violations were identified, but these have all been resolved following recovery offers. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises against imposing enforcement measures.

Strengths

  • Stable team with familiar faces, which promotes emotional security
  • Staff are sensitive and responsive to children's needs
  • Good language stimulation and cognitive development
  • Each child has a mentor and developmental meetings are held
  • Sufficient qualified staff with appropriate early childhood education (VVE) certificates
  • Responsible daycare observed during the inspection visit

Shortcomings

  • The play and learning environment could be enriched with more inviting play materials and real items in the kitchen corner
  • The dolls' corner could be arranged more attractively

Violations

  • Sleeping and playing toddlers in the same room without separation, which disrupted rest and play (resolved by adjusting the room with a curtain and splitting the lighting groups)
  • Maximum group size incorrectly described in the pedagogical policy (baby group 11 children while policy stated 10) (resolved)
  • No active written handover to primary schools; transfer forms were sent via parents (resolved)

Summary

GGD Amsterdam conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 30 January 2026 at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Kindercentrum Het Pareltje in Amsterdam. The location provides care for a maximum of 27 children in two core groups: a baby group (0-2 years) and a toddler group (2-4 years) with preschool education via the Piramide programme. The pedagogical climate and daily care are generally responsible. However, three violations were identified that have all been resolved following recovery offers: sleeping and playing toddlers in the same room without separation, incorrect group size in the policy, and missing active handover to primary schools. The play and learning environment could be enriched. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises against imposing enforcement measures as the violations have been terminated.
