About this care
Kindcentrum De Wegwijzer is a Christian child centre in the heart of Westerbork where children aged 0 to 13 play, discover and grow together. Our daycare centre (KDV) is specially designed for toddlers aged 2 to 4. Since September 2023 we have been offering toddler care at our location at Homaat 2. We welcome up to 16 children per day in a dedicated group room with adjacent outdoor play area. The space is bright, safe and inviting, so children feel at home right away.
We work closely with the kindergarten groups of the primary school, which are also located on the ground floor. This connection provides a familiar and structured transition to primary education. Our pedagogical team consists of experienced and committed childcare professionals who follow each child in his or her own developmental rhythm. We offer a safe and familiar environment in which children learn and develop through play.
Our daycare centre is open four mornings a week from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We provide pre-school education (VVE), working on language, numeracy and social skills in a playful and natural way. We use recognised VVE methods that connect with the world of experience of young children. Our activities focus on discovery, experimentation and playing together. We make use of our own outdoor space and the school playgrounds for movement activities and nature experience.

Summary
Kindcentrum De Wegwijzer in Westerbork, a daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) for up to 16 toddlers (ages 2–4), was inspected by GGD Drenthe on 12 February 2026. The annual unannounced inspection found that the location meets all assessed quality requirements in the areas of pedagogical climate, staff and groups, and accommodation. The daycare center uses the Uk and Puk method for early childhood education and provides at least 16 hours of activities per week. Staff members are well qualified and hold the required certificates. The indoor space (57.6 m²) and outdoor space (more than 48 m²) are appropriately furnished. No violations or areas for improvement were identified. The operator endorses the findings in their statement of views.
