About this care

AI
Welcome to Kids2b BSO in Winsum, located at Warfstraat 1. As part of the Kids2b organization, which has been active in North Groningen for over 30 years, we provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12. Our location is housed in 'De Blauwe Schuit', a charming building with a large green outdoor playground where children can play and discover after school. We work from our three focal points: nutrition & exercise, language, and outdoor activities. Every day we provide a healthy meal and plenty of exercise in the fresh outdoor air. Our pedagogical staff give children the space to develop at their own pace, with attention to each child as they are. We use the Parent App which allows parents to communicate easily and stay informed about their child. Our BSO is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM. We work with mixed age groups where children of different ages play together and learn from each other. The location accommodates up to 90 children and is easily accessible for families from Winsum and the surrounding area.

Violations
Following the recovery offer, the location now meets all assessed statutory quality requirements. Staff and groups complied immediately; pedagogical climate, safety and health, and accommodation complied after recovery.

Strengths

  • Staff and groups met all requirements immediately: Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), persons register, qualification requirements, and staff-to-child ratios
  • Swift and adequate response to the recovery offer with concrete measures
  • Good cooperation with the supervisory authority during the investigation

Violations

  • Pedagogical policy: insufficiently concrete description of the nature and organisation of the summer holiday care at the scouting site; children had no option to remain at the registered location
  • Safety and health policy: insufficiently concrete description of risks at the scouting site (drowning, injury, overheating) and missing action plan
  • Accommodation: outdoor space not safely and appropriately arranged due to loose stones and insufficient shaded areas

Summary

The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspected after-school care (BSO) Kids2b in Winsum on 13 July 2026 following a signal regarding summer holiday care at a scouting site. The incidental investigation focused on the safety and organisation of this care for children aged 4 to 12. Initially, there were shortcomings in three areas: the pedagogical policy was insufficiently concrete for the extended activity, the safety and health policy lacked a concrete risk assessment for the site with a ditch, loose stones and lack of shade, and the outdoor space was not safely and appropriately arranged. Following a recovery offer, the location adjusted its work plan, offered parents freedom of choice, inventoried risks, implemented measures such as removing loose stones and creating shaded areas, and established agreements on a heat protocol. All shortcomings have been resolved. Staff and groups did meet all requirements immediately. The GGD advises no enforcement action.
