About this care
KDV/PO de Papegaaitjes is located within primary school De Ommewending at Houtduifstraat 24 in Veendam. We provide toddler care for up to 14 children aged 2 to 4 years. Our facility is officially registered in the National Childcare Register under number 101272911 and is operated by de Apenrots Westerbroek B.V.
We use a horizontal group structure, where children play and learn in a small, manageable group. During school weeks, we are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The toddler care is closed during school holidays.
Preschool education (VE) is part of our program. We offer structured activities focused on language and speech development, social skills and school readiness. These activities are tailored to the developmental stage of toddlers and prepare them for primary school.
Our location is housed in the De Ommewending building, with which we work closely. This provides a familiar environment for children who will later attend this primary school. We use the school's facilities, including a secure outdoor area.

Summary
KDV/PO de Papegaaitjes in Veendam is a toddler daycare (peuteropvang) with 14 places that received an unannounced annual inspection visit on 19 September 2024. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) concludes that the location did not meet statutory quality requirements at that time: there are shortcomings in cooperation with the inspection, pedagogical policy, personnel documentation, safety and health matters, parent committee, and complaints procedure. On a positive note, the pedagogical practice itself runs well: children experience warm, safe guidance and there is a clear themed program. The holder indicated after the inspection that policy documents have been updated, a complaints procedure has been added, first aid (EHBO) renewal has been scheduled, and additional attention will be given to the reporting code and coaching. The GGD advises the municipality of Veendam to enforce.
