About this care
KDV Van Brakelstraat is located in the creative heart of Rotterdam, in the child-friendly Cool district, close to Erasmus MC and the Eye Hospital. We offer childcare for children aged 0-4, as well as toddler care and after-school care, all under one roof. This is not only convenient for parents, but especially pleasant for children, as they remain in a familiar environment when transitioning to a different form of care.
Our location features a secure outdoor play area specially designed for the youngest children. Here, they can safely play and explore under the guidance of our qualified staff. For after-school care children, there is a sports field where they can be active and where we encourage plenty of movement.
We believe good nutrition is essential. Therefore, we serve warm, fresh meals at the daycare, prepared by our own chef in the kitchen of the child center. Everything is made fresh, including the sauces. The menus are developed in consultation with a nutritionist to ensure your child receives all necessary nutrients. Of course, we accommodate special dietary requirements based on allergies or religious beliefs.
Our opening hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Extended care is available for a small fee from 7:00-7:30 AM and 6:30-7:00 PM. For parents working in education or other professions with school holidays off, we also offer 40-week care options.

The annual inspection of August 4, 2026, of daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Van Brakelstraat in Rotterdam shows a mixed picture. The pedagogical practice and pedagogical policy are strong: children feel emotionally safe and are well challenged in their development. The safety and health policy, parent committee, and deployment of a pedagogical policy officer for early childhood education are also in order. However, two serious shortcomings were identified. For early childhood education, insufficiently qualified staff were deployed, causing the required staff-child ratio to be missed on multiple occasions. One staff member lacked the VVE certificate, another had insufficient language proficiency level 3F. Additionally, the outdoor play area was not accessible throughout the entire opening hours for all groups due to a strict outdoor play schedule. In their response, the provider indicated that the language test has since been passed, the outdoor play schedule has been abolished, and measures are being taken to improve staff deployment. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises enforcement.
