About this care
Kinderdagverblijf 't Werfje is a distinctive daycare centre located on the Langerwerf family farm at Kijldijk 1 in Oosteind, municipality of Oosterhout. Half of a barn has been converted into a welcoming childcare facility, allowing children to be cared for right on the farm. The location accommodates up to 32 children aged 0 to 4 years and has been officially registered in the National Childcare Register since 1 January 2018 under number 698347523.
We believe in the power of the natural environment. Every day the children go outside to climb, scramble, dig and run. The spacious green outdoor area in front of the daycare offers plenty of opportunities to play, discover, learn and experience. Contact with animals – such as the horses housed on the farm – has a positive effect on children’s health, self-confidence and resilience. We provide overalls and wellies, because getting a little dirty is part of the fun.
Our childcare is housed in a section of the barn, with a separate after-school room that looks out on the foals in the stable. This unique setting gives children a sense of peace, space and freedom. Settling in
The transition from home to daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) is a big step for children. We offer a careful settling-in period in which child and childcare worker can get used to each other. Parents also get the opportunity to adjust to the new situation and get a feel for the atmosphere at 't Werfje. We feel it is important that children feel safe and secure before they gain new experiences. Children have a fixed, familiar group to build close relationships quickly.

GGD West-Brabant inspected the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) 't Werfje in Oosteind on 28 August 2025 following two reports concerning emotional unsafety of children, social unsafety for staff, and hygiene. During the unannounced visit, pedagogical practice, staffing levels, safety, and health were assessed. The inspection concludes that all statutory requirements are met. There were no indications of emotional unsafety among children; children behaved at ease and received responsive guidance. Hygiene was in order: hands were washed, materials were clean, and safety protocols were followed. Several points for attention include the limited structure in the daily schedule, a table with a temporarily taped sharp edge, an incomplete cleaning checklist, and the presence of two dogs in the group. These aspects entail additional risks but are carefully managed. No violations were established. The advice to the municipality is to take no enforcement measures.
