About this care
De Zeeparels Daycare in Stiens is dedicated to children aged 0 to 4. Our centre is located in the d’Orient district, right next to primary school De Sprankel, and together with peuteropvang De Oesterkes and after-school care De Sprankel we form Integrated Child Centre (IKC) De Sprankel.
We organise care into three clear age groups: a vertical 0-2 group, a horizontal 0-4 group and a horizontal 2-4 group. Each group is open every day, allowing parents to choose either full-day or half-day care. The setting is small-scale and homely so that every child feels safe and secure. Our enthusiastic team of permanent pedagogical staff always puts the child’s needs first.
A distinctive feature of De Zeeparels is our bilingual approach. Both Frisian and Dutch are offered daily, following the guidelines of the certificate “Boartsjendewei in taal derby”. Language support is provided by the Sintrum Frysktalige Berne-opfang (SFBO), giving children the opportunity to learn two languages through play from an early age.

Shortcomings
- Strengthen communication with the parent committee, particularly regarding advisory rights in the event of policy changes
- Parent committee must draw up a document outlining its own working methods and share agendas in a timely manner
- Make the information board and documentation folder for parents more visible
Summary
The annual inspection by GGD Fryslân on 10 April 2026 shows that daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Stiens IKC De Zeeparels meets all inspected quality requirements. The childcare, part of Kids First COP groep with 44 places in three core groups for children aged 0-4 years, offers a safe and stimulating environment. The pedagogical practice scores well on all basic objectives: emotional security, personal and social competence, and norms and values. The location has submitted an application for early childhood education (voorschoolse educatie/VE), which is also approved. One point of attention is communication with the parent committee; the Municipal Health Service (GGD) found that parents were insufficiently aware of their advisory rights regarding a change in age groups. Following consultation on 21 April 2026, agreements were made to improve this, including drawing up a working methods document and better exchange of agendas.
