About this care
De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location Vreewijkschool Groenezoom is located in the same building as primary school De Vreewijkschool at Groenezoom 156, Rotterdam. We provide toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 in two horizontal groups: the Ducks and the Frogs. Our location works closely with the primary school, making the transition from preschool to group 1 literally and figuratively small.
We use the VVE programme of the municipality of Rotterdam. Themes such as “Wow, it’s hot” and “Sneezing in autumn” connect with the toddler’s world of experience and stimulate language, social-emotional, motor and sensory development. Learning through play is central: discovering, exploring and experimenting in a safe environment. We follow each child’s rhythm and work in a results-oriented way, so that every toddler progresses at his or her own pace.
Our pedagogical staff build a relationship of trust with parents. We believe it is important that parents feel free to discuss questions and doubts. Together we ensure that every child gets a flying start and enters primary school with confidence.

Summary
De Rotterdamse Peuterschool, location Vreewijkschool Groenezoom, provides toddler daycare (peuteropvang) with early childhood education (voorschoolse educatie/VE) to 14 children aged 2-4 years. The annual Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection of 6 October 2025 shows that the location meets most quality requirements: the pedagogical climate is positive, the safety and health policy is in order, and pedagogical policy is well implemented. However, a violation has been identified in the area of early childhood education. On 23 September 2025, the required staff-child ratio was not in order: only one fully qualified staff member and a student without a VE certificate were present, while two qualified staff members were required for ten children present. The student should not have been counted within the ratio. The location consciously chooses to keep the group open despite staff shortages. The municipality receives advice to enforce.
