About this care
It Roekeltsje BSO is located in a former school building at Schoolstraat 2 in Warten, Friesland. We provide after-school care for up to 20 children aged 4 to 12 in a homely and spacious setting. Our regular staff pick the children up from school and welcome them with a drink and a biscuit.
Outdoor play is central to our approach: our large natural playground offers plenty of space to move, garden and build huts. We work on a small, flexible scale so every child feels safe and at ease and can develop to the fullest.
It Roekeltsje is officially bilingual: Dutch and Frisian. We follow the ‘one staff member, one language’ principle, allowing children to become familiar with both languages through play. Our location is centrally situated in Friesland and easily accessible from Leeuwarden, Wergea, Burgum, Earnewâld and Garyp.

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 22 April 2026 at It Roekeltsje BSO in Warten, a private after-school care (BSO) facility with 28 places for children aged 4 to 13 years. The care is housed in a former school building and uses its own group room, play hall, and shared outdoor space. All inspected items meet the legal quality requirements. The pedagogical policy is fully and concretely described. The pedagogical practice demonstrates sensitive and responsive guidance, in which children are challenged in their development and stimulated in social competencies and sense of norms. All staff members hold a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag/VOG) and are correctly registered in the Childcare Personnel Register (Personenregister Kinderopvang). The parent committee is well-organized and satisfied with the quality. There is an effective complaints procedure and the holder is affiliated with the Disputes Committee (Geschillencommissie). No complaints were submitted in the past year.
