About this care
Welcome to KDV Zuidlaren IKC De Schuthoek, our daycare located within primary school De Schuthoek on Julianalaan in Zuidlaren. We provide care for up to 14 children aged 0 to 4 years. Our dedicated room is completely separated from the rest of the primary school, creating a peaceful atmosphere. This location is particularly suitable for children whose older siblings already attend the primary school, given the proximity.
We have a well-organized space with an adjacent sleeping area and a lovely enclosed outdoor playground. When the older children are inside, we also make use of the large playground for outdoor activities. Our location is situated on the edge of Zuidlaren, and we make optimal use of the surrounding nature. Together with the primary school, we maintain several vegetable gardens. In both winter and summer, we enjoy feeding the ducks swimming in the Brillenvijver. With the oldest children, we walk to the center to shop for our themes.
As part of the Integral Child Center (IKC), we collaborate with primary school De Schuthoek. This ensures a continuous learning path with the school and offers children the opportunity to stay in one familiar place throughout the day. We do not offer flexible childcare at this location.Read more

Strengths
- Pedagogical policy and practice meet all requirements
- Staff work sensitively, respectfully and stimulating with children
- Sufficient emotional safety and personal attention for children
- All staff members have a valid Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag/VOG) and the correct qualifications
- Staff are familiar with the pedagogical policy and are involved in adjustments

- Ensure better communication and handover regarding the identity and role of the pedagogical coach to all team members
- Include the missing washbasin at the changing table in the health risks action list
- Investigate possibilities to improve the hygiene situation until the planned relocation in July 2026

- Deployment of pedagogical policy staff member: the coaching hours are not found to be plausible; one staff member received no coaching in 2025 and did not know the pedagogical coach at the start of their role
- Safety and health policy: no washbasin with running water is present at the changing table, meaning staff wash their hands at the kitchen sink where bottle feeding is also prepared; this hygiene risk was not included in the health risks action list
Summary
The annual inspection of 21 January 2026 of KDV Zuidlaren IKC De Schuthoek of Kids First Kinderopvang shows a mixed picture. The location provides care for a maximum of 14 children aged 0-4 years in one core group. The pedagogical climate meets all requirements: staff work respectfully, sensitively and stimulating with the children. However, two violations have been identified. First, staff receive insufficient coaching from the pedagogical policy staff member; one employee had received no coaching in 2025 and did not know the coach. Second, there is a hygiene risk: no washbasin is present at the changing table, meaning staff wash their hands at the kitchen sink where bottle feeding is also prepared. This risk was not on the action list. The holder has responded with an improvement plan and commitments. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises enforcement.
