About this care
BSO Wielerbaan is located at the same site as Montessori School De Wielerbaan, at Disselhoek 50 in the quiet Helmerhoek district of Enschede. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 who have started primary school. Our approach is rooted in Montessori principles: ‘Help me do it myself’. Within clear boundaries, children learn to make their own choices, set their own pace and take responsibility for their actions and their environment.
After a long school day, the BSO is the place where children can relax freely and also discover new things. We offer a safe, familiar environment with room for both rest and challenge. Our pedagogical staff guide the children with respect for their individual development and encourage independence and cooperation.
BSO Wielerbaan works closely with Montessori School De Wielerbaan, ensuring a smooth transition from school to after-school care. We are based in the school building but also use the immediate surroundings for outdoor activities. Healthy nutrition and a safe, well-cared-for environment are high on our priority list.

GGD Twente conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 9 February 2026 at after-school care (BSO) De Wielerbaan in Enschede, a preschool facility for up to 16 children (ages 4-12) operated by Stichting Humankind. The location meets all assessed conditions following a recovery offer. One violation was identified: the risk assessment for safety and health had not been updated annually (last update: 14 November 2024), despite this being required by policy. Following a recovery offer on 23 February 2026, this shortcoming was resolved on 2 March 2026. Pedagogical practice could only be assessed to a limited extent due to low occupancy (one child), but the observed interaction was sensitive and calm. Staff, accommodation and other safety aspects are compliant.
