About this care
BSO De Toversteen is an excellent after-school care facility located at 't Vijfeiken 36 in Heesch, within the municipality of Bernheze. As part of Humankind Kinderopvang, we provide children aged 4 to 12 with a safe and familiar place to be themselves and develop their personalities.
Our location accommodates up to 86 children and is open Monday through Friday from 07:30 to 18:30. We are strategically located near primary school Toermalijn, allowing children to easily and safely transition from school to our care through our side entrance.
For our older children, we have created a special 8+ space where children aged 8 and above can retreat to their own environment and participate in activities that match their age and interests. This space provides opportunities for homework completion, relaxation, or engaging in age-specific activities.
At BSO De Toversteen, we believe it's important that every child can be themselves and feel safe. Our professional pedagogical staff are ready to guide children in their development and provide them with a wonderful time, both before and after school as well as during holidays. We offer a warm and homely atmosphere where children can play, discover, and learn.

Strengths
- The pedagogical policy is well-developed and implemented in practice
- Staff act in accordance with the pedagogical policy plan, as demonstrated during the after-school table time

- The safety and health policy contained insufficient appropriate measures for the risk of falling from a great height: agreements regarding the outdoor play equipment were not described in the policy and house rules
- Staff did not act in accordance with the safety and health policy: children did not wash their hands before the meal, despite this being stated in the house rules
Summary
BSO De Toversteen in Heesch, part of Stichting Humankind, was inspected on 25 August 2026 by GGD Hart voor Brabant. The after-school care (BSO) accommodates 94 children aged 4 to 13 years in four core groups, housed in primary school Eikenwijs. The location meets the quality requirements for pedagogical climate, personnel and groups, and parental rights. Two violations were identified regarding safety and health, for which a recovery offer was made. Both violations have been resolved: the absence of written agreements on outdoor play equipment in the policy, and children not adhering to hand hygiene before meals. The GGD advises no enforcement action.
