About this care
Welcome to BSO De Satelliet, our 7+ after-school care centre located at Franz Schubertlaan 37A in Heemstede. We are part of Humankind, the largest non-profit childcare organisation in the Netherlands. Our location is purpose-built for older, primary-school children and can accommodate up to 35 children.
At De Satelliet, child participation is key. After school is free time, so the children have a strong say in what we do. We use the ‘Kanjers in de Sport’ method, combining sport and play to achieve four goals: emotional safety, social competence, personal competence and moral competence. Through this approach children not only learn new skills but also grow in confidence and mutual respect.
We are open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30, all year round—52 weeks a year. During school holidays we run a special holiday programme. For parents’ convenience we offer a home-drop service between 18:00 and 18:30 when needed, ensuring our care fits seamlessly around your working day.

Summary
BSO De Satelliet in Heemstede provides after-school care (BSO) for up to 35 children aged 7-13 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection of 17 April 2025 concludes that the location meets most quality requirements. The pedagogical practice is good: children experience emotional safety, are given freedom, and are guided in a friendly manner. The base groups ('Kleine Ster' and 'Grote Ster') are now clearly recognizable and no larger than 30 children. All staff members hold a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and the personnel register is in order. There are sufficient qualified childcare professionals present, and the policy for deviating ratios has been tightened and approved following a recovery offer (herstelaanbod). There is still no official parent committee; however, the organization has actively recruited and involved parents in recent changes. Due to the absence of a parent committee (oudercommissie/OC), a legal requirement is not being met, but the supervisory authority recognizes mitigating circumstances.
