About this care
Welcome to Het Toddler’s Huis Kraneweg, a small-scale and welcoming daycare centre right next to Groningen’s city centre. Our location at Kraneweg 107 was completely renovated a few years ago and offers places for up to 39 children aged 0 to 4. We run three horizontal groups: one for babies, one for toddlers and one for pre-schoolers. Because the centre is compact, everyone knows and greets each other; within no time both you and your child will know every face by name.
Play is at the heart of our approach, because play sparks creativity and forms the basis for broad development. Our stable team of professional staff welcomes your child every day with familiar faces, giving them the security to be themselves and the freedom to learn through discovery. Each month we explore a new theme, so there is always something exciting to experience.
We value practical convenience: flexible childcare days and quick placement are possible. A fresh hot meal and healthy snacks are served daily to keep your child’s energy levels up. Our garden offers safe outdoor play and we follow a clear corona protocol with extra attention to hygiene.

- The pedagogical policy plan and work plan do not contain a concrete description of the working method, maximum size and age structure of the core groups that corresponds to the actual situation; the use of the entrance hall as an additional group room is insufficiently described and does not match actual usage
- The indoor spaces are not safely, accessibly and appropriately arranged: the entrance hall serves a traffic function as an entry and break room, is not structurally available to all groups, and there is insufficient evidence that it can be allocated to the core groups
- There is insufficient indoor play space for the registered number of 39 childcare places; the baby group (max. 9 children) has only 30.7 m² (sufficient for 8), the toddler group (max. 14 children) has 38 m² (sufficient for 10), and the preschooler group (max. 16 children) has 47.8 m² (sufficient for 13)
Summary
Het Toddler's Huis Kraneweg in Groningen, a daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) with 39 childcare places divided across baby, toddler and preschooler groups, was subject to an unannounced follow-up investigation by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) on 2 July 2026. This investigation followed an annual inspection on 4 November 2025 in which two shortcomings were identified. The location still does not meet the statutory requirements regarding pedagogical policy and accommodation. The pedagogical work plan insufficiently and incorrectly describes how the shared entrance hall is used. In addition, there is a structural shortage of indoor play space: the groups do not have the mandatory 3.5 m² per child at maximum occupancy. The outdoor play area has since been remedied through a new measurement. The GGD advises the municipal executive to take enforcement action.
