About this care
Located within primary school De Molenwiek on Betuwelaan in Haarlem-South, you will find our toddler daycare location. We provide care for up to 30 children aged 2 to 4 years. Most children who play with us live in Molenwijk or Europawijk. For about half of the toddlers, Dutch is their second language. You might hear a word of Turkish, Moroccan, Polish or Iranian passing by. We speak Dutch together. We repeat a lot and read aloud every day, so that the children quickly pick up new words.
Toddlers are discovering all day long. That's exactly why we value a fixed structure for the morning: it gives children at this age stability. Upon arrival, they put the fruit they bring from home in a basket. We use this to fill a large bowl for the whole group. This way, children learn to share and taste fruit they may not know yet. And of course, whenever possible, we go outside every morning.

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) Kennemerland conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 19 June 2025 at Hero Toddler Care Betuwelaan (daycare center/kinderdagverblijf/KDV, 30 places, ages 2-4), assessing pedagogical quality, professionalism, preschool education (VE), and stability of care. The pedagogical policy, pedagogical practice, early education offer, professional qualifications, Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) registration, and core group care meet statutory requirements. The early education program (Uk & Puk) is concretely elaborated, 21 target group children receive at least 960 hours, the staff-child ratio of 1:8 is guaranteed, the early education policy officer is deployed correctly, and all staff hold the required diplomas, early education training, and language proficiency level 3F. Children are generally cared for in fixed core groups; incidental transfers only occurred due to unforeseen staff absence. No violations were identified. A point of attention is the ventilation system: grilles are dusty and natural ventilation is difficult; the location will contact the school and facilities service for cleaning and door stoppers. No enforcement advice.
