About this care
Hero BSO Patrimoniumstraat is a small-scale after-school care facility located inside the Willem van Oranjeschool at Patrimoniumstraat 19A in Haarlem. We provide care for up to 22 children on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as during school holidays, care is provided at our main location, BSO Nieuwe Gracht.
Our three group rooms are comfortably furnished. Children can enjoy arts and crafts in the creative corner, relax in the chill-out area, or engage in sports and movement activities in the school’s gym. Outside, there is a large, enclosed playground where children often spend time.
Our mission is to embark on a daily adventure with the children, helping them become the best version of themselves. Our core values – Adventure, Fun, Learning and Attention – guide our policies and the way we work. We support children's development in various areas, for example by offering music lessons and projects about sports and healthy eating. Summary
Hero BSO Patrimoniumstraat provides after-school care (BSO) for a maximum of 22 children aged 4–12 years in one base group. The pedagogical climate meets the quality requirements: the policy is concrete, parents can access it digitally, practice aligns with it, and during observation the children appeared emotionally secure and engaged. There is an active pedagogical coach who coaches all staff members. However, two violations were identified: on 14 October 2025, the pedagogical module of an alternatively qualified staff member had not yet been completed while she was being deployed in a formative capacity, and the staff-to-child ratio was not met on that day. The inspector recognises mitigating circumstances (illness of permanent staff, no substitute pool, incident without consequences for safety or quality) and advises the municipality to take these circumstances into account in enforcement. The location will amend the pedagogical work plan as soon as the staff member in question has completed her module.
