Summary

GGD Kennemerland conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 14 July 2026 at Hero BSO Kanariestraat in Haarlem, an after-school care (BSO) for 108 children aged 4 to 12 years. The location meets all assessed statutory requirements in the areas of pedagogical policy, pedagogical practice, staff qualifications, and accommodation. The pedagogical climate is assessed positively: staff provide emotional safety, promote personal and social competence, and convey norms and values. There are six permanent staff members and two temporary workers; one base group still has a vacancy. The shared spaces with the primary school are an area for attention; an internal relocation is planned after the autumn holiday to better align the spaces with the children's age. There is no parent committee, although parent participation is facilitated in other ways.
