About this care
Welcome to Groene Wereld Luchtkasteel! Our daycare is located at Rijksweg 121 in Rijen, right next to the Gilze-Rijen airbase forests. Here children aged 0 to 4 hear birds singing, breathe fresh forest air and experience a new adventure every day.
We are a small-scale, certified Green Childcare centre. Being outdoors and connecting with nature are at the heart of everything we do. Our large garden is a true discovery garden: children help in our vegetable patch, pick their own strawberries and feed the chickens. Rain, sun, wind or snow – we head outside in every season. Even the youngest babies nap outdoors in special outdoor cribs, safe and wonderfully airy.
We run two broad horizontal groups (0-3 years) and one toddler group (2-4 years). Within each group there is plenty of room for age-specific activities. Toddlers dance, sing and join children’s yoga while babies rest peacefully. Together we prepare a healthy lunch with organic produce, often harvested from our own garden. Our experienced pedagogical professionals are ready every day to guide your child’s development with warm attention and expert care.

Strengths
- Pedagogical climate: staff members demonstrate an active, positive attitude and respond sensitively to children
- Child-to-staff ratios and staffing levels meet requirements

- Formal violation of the Childcare Act: a resident in the Municipal Personal Records Database at address Rijksweg 121 is not registered in the Childcare Persons Register. In fact, this person does not live in the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) building (lives on the airbase with the same address), meaning there is no actual risk to the childcare operation.

GGD Hart voor Brabant conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 2 February 2026 at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Groene wereld Luchtkasteel in Rijen. The location provides care for 48 children aged 0 to 4 years in three core groups. Almost all areas comply with legislation and regulations. One formal violation was identified: a resident of the nearby airbase is registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database at the same address as the daycare center, but is not registered in the Childcare Persons Register.
