• Pedagogical practice can only be assessed once childcare has commenced

Summary

This inspection report concerns a registration inspection for childminder/host parent care (gastouderopvang) Goosen at Laat 22 in Tollebeek. The host parent will provide childcare in the home of the requesting parents, affiliated with childminder agency 4Kids. The inspection took place on 18 August 2026. The inspector concludes that all assessed requirements are met and issues a positive recommendation for inclusion in the National Childcare Register. The host parent has no previous registration history. She holds the required diploma in Helpende Zorg en Welzijn with the elective module for working with children in host parent care, a valid first aid certificate, and is registered in the Childcare Personnel Register. The home has been adequately adapted with safe indoor and outdoor spaces, including a separate sleeping area for children under 1.5 years. Preventive safety measures have been taken such as stair gates, socket covers and smoke detectors. The host parent has sufficient knowledge of the reporting protocol for domestic violence and child abuse. One point of attention is that the childminder agency's risk assessment document has not yet been updated to reflect the new requirement that, as of 1 July 2026, a back-up must be available regardless of the number of children; the agency still needs to make this adjustment.
