Tweede Thuis offers childminder care (gastouderopvang) in a homely, small-scale setting where every child receives the personal attention they need. As parents ourselves, we understand how important it is to be able to leave your child with peace of mind. That is why we work with a personal approach and strive for a good match between requesting parent and childminder. The care is flexible in terms of days and hours, and takes place at the childminder's home or at your home. All childminders are registered with the National Childcare Register (LRK) and meet the statutory quality requirements.
Subsidy & costs
Tweede Thuis is a recognised childminder agency (gastouderbureau), which means parents may be eligible for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) if they and their partner work or meet other statutory conditions. The agency provides guidance with applying for this benefit where needed. Parents can do a trial calculation on the Tax Administration website to get an indication of costs and benefit. In 2026, childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) will be provided up to a maximum hourly rate of €8.49 per care hour.
The total hourly rate for childminder care (gastouderopvang) consists of two parts: the advisory rate (sitting fee) for the childminder (gastouder) of €7.59 per child per hour, plus the mediation fee of Tweede Thuis of €0.90 per child per care hour. Childminders may set their own rate within these parameters. Different rates apply for in-home care. Parents work with a zero-hours contract, meaning they only pay for the actual agreed care hours.
Trust & screening
All childminders (gastouders) at Tweede Thuis must meet strict selection criteria. They hold the required diplomas, certificates and declarations, including a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Childminders are screened for pedagogical competencies and must meet the requirements of the Childcare Act. The care locations are checked through risk assessments and must comply with safety and space requirements. Childminders are regularly assessed during progress meetings.
Tweede Thuis is a recognised childminder agency (gastouderbureau) that operates in accordance with the Childcare Act.
