Parents can apply for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) via the Tax Authority. For 2026, you can receive up to €8.49 per hour in benefit. The amount depends on your joint income, the number of children, and hours worked/studied. TisKidz offers a trial calculation tool on the website and helps parents with questions about benefit. Most childminders (gastouders) work within the maximum benefit rate, meaning parents often get a large portion of the costs reimbursed.
Childminders (gastouders) are self-employed and set their own hourly rate, on average between €6.50 and €8.00 per hour per child. For in-home service, the rate is between €17.50 and €22.50 per hour per family. TisKidz charges agency fees: €1.30 per hour per child (minimum €25 per month) or a fixed amount of €60.00 per month per family (1 child). There are no registration fees or hidden charges. Payment can be made via Wero, with a payment link on the monthly invoice.
Trust & screening
Before a childminder (gastouder) can start, the GGD first carries out an on-site inspection. After approval, the childminder receives a registration number and is entered into the National Childcare Register (LRK). TisKidz visits childminders regularly — both announced and unannounced — to assess childcare practice and offer support. Childminders work with personal development plans (POP) and receive at least 3 hours of individual coaching per year.
