Childminder agency (gastouderbureau) Het Speelkwartier is a registered and municipally recognised childminder agency that mediates in legally recognised childminder care (gastouderopvang) for your child. We are registered in the National Childcare Register under number 161469589. Our main task lies in supporting self-employed childminders (gastouders) in their own childcare business, enabling us to contribute to higher quality care. We work with a small group of motivated childminders who care for several children at once and have started their own business. Subsidy & costs
Childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) is a contribution towards childcare costs provided to parents by the government. The amount of benefit you receive depends on your income and the number of children attending care. Het Speelkwartier can calculate any benefit you may be entitled to during the introductory meeting. For assistance with the application, we work together with Administratiekantoor Punctueel.
At Het Speelkwartier, the childminder sets their own hourly rate for childcare. The agency charges an agency fee of €1.25 per hour per child, with a minimum of €56.50 and maximum of €150 per month. Agency costs for the 2nd child are 50%, and no agency costs are charged for the 3rd child or more. The registration fee is €25.00.
Trust & screening
Our childminders must meet legal requirements including an MBO-2 Helpende (Zorg en) Welzijn diploma or equivalent, a valid registered paediatric first aid certificate, a Certificate of Conduct (VOG), and registration with our registered childminder agency. The agency conducts intake interviews, visits the care address at least twice a year, and guides and prepares childminders for GGD assessment.
Het Speelkwartier is registered in the National Childcare Register under number 161469589. Every year, both our childminder agency and the childminder care locations are inspected by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) to verify that we continue to meet the requirements set out in the Childcare Act. Mission & vision
Het Speelkwartier believes that quality childcare starts with the childminder (gastouder), because they are the key determinant of care quality. Our primary focus is therefore on supporting the childminder in their own childcare practice. We work with a small group of self-employed childminders who have made a profession of their work. This allows us to provide personal attention, free up more time and budget for guidance, and contribute to higher quality in childcare.

Summary
Childminder agency Het Speelkwartier in Schermerhorn was inspected by GGD Hollands Noorden on 24 November 2025. The agency mediates and guides 12 childminders for 84 children. Initially, two shortcomings were identified: a person residing at a childminder address was not linked in the Childcare Person Register, and the link to the inspection report on the website was not working. Both violations were corrected within the provided recovery period of one week. All other assessed requirements, including pedagogical policy, risk assessment, staffing levels, and administration, were found to be in order immediately. The advice to the municipality of Alkmaar is: no enforcement.
