Subsidy & costs
Parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) because all Gastouderland childminders are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK). The amount of the benefit depends on income, family composition and childcare hours. A maximum of 230 hours per month can be claimed per child. Gastouderland offers support with the application and provides the necessary invoices as proof for the Tax and Customs Administration.
Gastouderland charges no registration fees and no fees for finding a childminder. Parents pay an hourly rate to the childminder (on average €5.50 - €8.00 per hour for care at the childminder's, €13.00 - €20.00 for childminder at home) plus agency fees to Gastouderland. The agency fees are calculated per situation and are set as favourably as possible so that they can be included in the childcare benefit. Payments to childminders are processed within two working days.
Trust & screening
Childminders are thoroughly screened before they are allowed to work with Gastouderland. They must have a recognised diploma, a Paediatric First Aid certificate, a Certificate of Conduct for themselves and household members, and be registered in the Childcare Personnel Register. The childcare location is checked by both Gastouderland and the Municipal Health Service (GGD), and childminders are visited at least twice a year for quality checks.
Gastouderland only works with childminders who are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK) and complies with the Childcare Act. All childminders and household members have a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and are registered in the Childcare Personnel Register. The agency is inspected annually by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) and has both an internal and external complaints procedure. Gastouderland is a member of the Disputes Committee for supplementary dispute resolution.
