At Gastouderland, you'll find small-scale childminder care (gastouderopvang) in a family setting, where your child is always looked after by the same familiar childminder (gastouder). You'll be assigned a personal regional consultant who lives in your area and serves as your dedicated point of contact. The consultant actively searches for a childminder who matches your needs and guides you through the entire matching process. Childminder care is flexible: you pay per hour and can adjust care hours to fit your working schedule, with some childminders even offering 24-hour care. All childminders are registered in the National Childcare Register, so you are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag).
Subsidy & costs
Parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) because all Gastouderland childminders are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK). The amount of the benefit depends on income, family composition, and care details. A maximum of 230 hours per month of childcare benefit can be claimed per child. Gastouderland offers support with applying for the benefit and provides monthly invoices that can serve as documentation for the Tax Authority. Payments to childminders are processed within two working days.
Trust & screening
Gastouderland applies a thorough screening process for all childminders. Every childminder must hold a government-approved diploma, a valid Children's First Aid certificate, and a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). Adult household members and regular visitors must also have a VOG. The Gastouderland consultant visits the care location to assess safety and hygiene. Subsequently, the Municipal Health Service (GGD) checks that all requirements are met before registration in the National Childcare Register takes place. After registration, continuous screening occurs through the Childcare Persons Register.
