Gastouderland offers parents flexible and reliable childminder care (gastouderopvang) throughout the Netherlands. With 23 locations, you will always find a suitable childminder in your region. You receive personal guidance from a dedicated regional consultant who maps out your wishes and actively searches for a suitable match. All childminders are qualified, registered in the National Childcare Register, and meet strict safety requirements. You only pay for the actual hours of care and are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag).
Subsidy & costs
Parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) because all Gastouderland childminders are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK). The amount of the benefit depends on family income, family composition, and care hours. You can receive a maximum of 230 hours per month per child. Gastouderland offers support with the application and provides monthly invoices that serve as proof for the Tax Authority. You also receive an annual statement for the final settlement.
Gastouderland charges no registration fees. Childminders set their own hourly rate, which typically ranges between €5.50 and €8.00 per hour for care at the childminder's home. For in-home childminders (nannies), rates range between €13.00 and €20.00 per hour, depending on experience and number of children. In addition to the hourly rate, you pay agency fees to Gastouderland for guidance and administration. These costs are calculated per situation and included in the childcare benefit calculation. Payments to childminders are processed within two working days.
Trust & screening
Gastouderland applies a strict screening procedure for all childminders. Every childminder must hold a government-approved diploma, a valid Child First Aid certificate, and a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Adult household members and regular visitors must also hold a VOG. The childcare location is assessed for safety and hygiene by both Gastouderland and the GGD. Upon approval, the childminder is registered by the municipality in the National Childcare Register.
Gastouderland meets all requirements of the Childcare Act and is inspected annually by the Municipal Health Service (GGD). All childminders are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK) and Childcare Persons Register (PRK). Childminders and household members hold a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). A risk assessment for safety and health is carried out annually at each childcare location. Gastouderland has an internal and external complaints procedure and is a member of the Disputes Committee.
