Childminder care (gastouderopvang) is classified as an official form of childcare, which means you can receive childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) from the Tax and Customs Administration. We help you apply for the benefit and can calculate how much benefit you can expect based on your annual income. You must apply for the benefit within one month of starting care via the Tax and Customs Administration website. In case of illness or holiday of your childminder, you must report temporary emergency care to the Tax and Customs Administration.
Childminder care (gastouderopvang) is on average 20% more affordable than other forms of childcare. The rate consists of two parts: the childminder's hourly rate (€7.40 - €9.50 per child per hour) and agency costs (€1.00 per hour for the first child, with a maximum of €80 per month). The third child is free of agency costs. There are no registration fees. We offer a no-obligation quote based on your childcare hours. Direct debit takes place around the 28th of each month.
Trust & screening
We select childminders (gastouders) with great care. Every candidate undergoes a personal interview, extensive screening, reference check, and social media review. Childminders must hold a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG), first aid diploma, and at minimum an MBO2-level Helping Care and Welfare qualification. The home is inspected for safety and must meet GGD requirements. Since 2013, all childminders have been continuously screened by the justice authorities. Owner Vanessa Heirman applies one important personal rule: 'Would I feel comfortable leaving my own child with this person?'
